How do you clone the gene coding of a peptide at first year university biology level?

How would you go about cloning the gene coding of a peptide (in general, not a specific one) in the laboratory. In as many simple steps as possible so I can look up each step and try to develop an understanding for an assignment due tomorrow which was only set friday urgh. Thank you in advance! How do you clone the gene coding of a peptide at first year university biology level?
1. PCR

2. Gel Electrophoresis

3. Extract DNA band

4. Insert that into a plasmid vector

5. Transform vector into E.coli

6. Grow up the E.coli

7. Extract plasmid then gene. Now you have many copies of the gene (ie. cloned)
